Honorato Dalila
Associate Professor, Department of Audio and Visual Arts, Ionian University

Dr. Honorato holds a BA in Communication Studies (specializing in Journalism) from the High Institute of Social and Political Sciences of the Technical University of Lisbon, and a MA in Communication from the Department of Communication and Mass Media (National and Kapodistrian University of Athens). She received her Ph.D. from the latter Department, following the completion of her thesis “Ethos and Pathos: The Development of Persuasion and the Construction of a Leader's Image on the Perspective of Philosophy of Communication” (in Greek). Her area of scholarship is Aesthetics with an emphasis on Image Semiology. Her research interests are Philosophy of Communication, Aesthetics of Hybrid Media, Theories of Consciousness, Interactive Media Semiotics, and Arts & Science-related issues. She is the conceptualizer of the "Taboo-Transgression-Transcendence in Art Art & Science” Conference, co-founder with Marta de Menezes, of the network "FEMeeting: Women in Art, Science and Technology", and a member of the editorial organism of Technoetic Arts Journal published by Intellect. She is one of the founding members of the Interactive Arts Lab. Along with her work as academic and researcher, she is active in the visual arts and in BioArt.
