Iakovos Panagopoulos is an Assistant Professor and postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Audio and Visual Arts of the Ionian University. He received his first degree at the same department and continued his studies at Bournemouth University (M.A. in Cinematography) and at the University of Central Lancashire, where he completed his Ph.D. The title of his thesis is: Reshaping Contemporary Greek Cinema through a Re-evaluation of the Historical and Political Perspective of Theo Angelopoulos's Work. Dr. Panagopoulos is also an award-winning filmmaker and in fact his pioneering work aims to narrow the gap between filmmaking and research. He is an official researcher in StoryLab (Skills Training for Democratised Film Industries) and scientific collaborator in InArts (Interactive Arts Lab) of Ionian University. He is also a member of the Scriptwriters Guild of Grecce and the Directors Guild of Greece.
