Dronecote is part of a research on the question "what is it like to live with the future" At this point the research focuses on methodological tools for planning rules, infrastructure and social impact that draws data from the past but also from the future using time as a rich database through the fingerprints already recorded.

The research uses historical data to provide useful information on a) the training of carrier pigeons, b) their navigation system, c) historical retrospection of the "postal" service by pigeons, d) the military use developed in the world wars and e) the buildings that were implemented in different geographical regions of the world in time. On the other hand, “data from the future” was sought by focusing on a) current unmanned aerial vehicle services, b) rules set by relevant regulatory authorities for aerial navigation in urban and peri-urban areas of the world, and c) patents that have already been filed and approved by competent authorities internationally.

The field of study is the adaptation to the special characteristics of the Region of the Ionian Islands. The research project 'Dronecote' is implemented within the framework of the HAL project, a research hub of the Ionian University.

Dronecote was presented at the 10th S.ARCH International Conference on Architecture and the Built Environment, which took place in Berlin from 4 to 6 April 2023.
